A REAL Update, but it's a drag...

I finally got ahold of the owners! And it was a nice enough chat, but in the end, they aren't ready to sell. Maybe in a year or two... So I will keep following up.

The dilemma I have now is... How do I keep blogging about this in the meantime? There are things I could post, but I'm not sure if it would matter. Not until we are there.

Plus, blogging about it more than a year or two out- how crazy does that make us look?!

An unwanted but necessary update...

I know I haven't posted in a while, and that's because I was waiting for good news.  Or any news.  But instead, we are still waiting.  We haven't heard back from the owner yet; we believe he may still be out of town.  I tried calling, and his answering machine was full.

The only thing I can think of right now is... to write a letter.  A nice, simple letter stating my case and hoping that he will get back to us.  Because if he doesn't, I don't know what we will do.  I've tried pointing out to my husband that we need some kind of timeline.  Just in case.  I mean, we can't wait around forever... Not that we should have to.  It is our destiny.  Right?

In the meantime, I will try to do some posts on design thoughts and preparation and all that good stuff.  Also finish the rest of the site, because that kind of needs to happen to.

So... cross your fingers for us?

Completely ahead of ourselves...

DESTINY
We haven’t even seen the inside yet, other than a few photos.  We haven’t talked to the owner.  We haven’t inspected it yet.  We’ve really, essentially, accomplished nothing in regards to actually buying this place… but in our heads, it’s ours already.  So much so that I am going to buy our first item for the house in a few days.

That’s right; you read that properly.  Buy. Our. First. Item.  For the house we don’t have.  I mean school we don’t have.  Because it’s not even technically a residence.  In fact, it’s been abandoned for about 70 years.  It will need to be made habitable before we even begin to do any of the fun stuff.  And it needs to be purchased before we can do that.  Mentally we are decorating already…

Honestly, this is all my uncle’s fault.  He had the lifelong dream of fixing this place up, contacted the owner, got us thinking about it… but as it turns out, it’s actually OUR DESTINY.  I know that because I’m usually full of these sorts of crazy ideas, but my husband talks me out of them or disagrees or even vehemently argues against them.  NOT THIS TIME.  He’s even worse than I am.  And in a few days, I will share my acquisition for it without shame… because this is ABSOLUTELY going to happen.
